WHEN IT WAS BORN!

The term initially coined by Fredrick Thordendal (of Meshuggah) , has come through roughly 15 years of time. Today a lot of the bands like Periphery ,After the burial , Monuments, Tesseract, Vildhjarta , COC ,Chimp Spanner ....share the title 'djent' either as their mainstream sound or as a part of their music. Djent, initially undermined and discouraged ,took off among the fans through online communities.Artists like Misha Mansoor (of Periphery) and Paul Ortiz (Chimp Spanner) took their bedroom talent out to online communities that were heated up with this new style. So far many bands that are often considered djent have released commercial albums and toured on an international scale.
The twist of polyrythms ,syncopated riffs and heavy palm mutes paired up wonderfully with progressive metal, ambient layers and shrieking solos .And no matter how limited it may seem at some point to some people ,the fans believe that it'll go on and last more than what is expected of it. I myself a true fan to djent ,prefer to look at what it does to the intros and breakdowns in a track , and ignore the fact that it eventually has its limitations.
It's a fancy battle you will see among the fans and the bunch of people that couldn't love it since the beginning .Is it something you could look for after thrash metal and post modern rock?
This is definitely the place where you can battle it out. Will djent live beyond its expected short term fad or will it survive ?
